September 2021

Check out the latest opportunities and events from Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP).

New Virtual Tour:

Join CMEP and MEJDI Tours on September 29, 2021, at 11 am Eastern for a virtual tour. We'll travel via Zoom through the City of David, Silwan, and Sheikh Jarrah, starting with the relevant background and sharing the local narratives. This is an in-depth opportunity to view, learn, and discuss with your live guide. CMEP staff will be present to talk about current events and advocacy opportunities related to the Holy Land.

CMEP released a video update by our new Manager of Middle East Partnerships, Kevin Vollrath, on recent events in Sheikh Jarrah. CMEP opposes the unjust eviction of Palestinian tenants in Sheikh Jarrah and will continue updating our followers on this case in further videos. Please find Kevin’s video here

CMEP Honors Former Executive Director:

Please join CMEP in dedicating the month of September to honor former CMEP Executive Director, the late Ambassador Warren Clark, whose memory lives on through the Ambassador Warren Clark Fellowship (AWCF). The AWCF provides valuable experience to the current generation of students passionate about peace in the Holy Land. Please consider helping CMEP reach its goal of $10,000 by donating to AWCF.

CMEP Journeys:

This spring we hosted CMEP Journeys - a series of virtual events designed to educate, elevate, and advocate. The recordings of many of those events are now available for you to view at your leisure - whether you initially registered or not! Videos include a media training on writing op-eds, webinars featuring women peacebuilders and peacemakers working in Gaza, and three different book club presentations. (You don't need to have read the books to enjoy these discussions!)

New Podcast Episode:

Just released! In the 13th episode of Dangerous Dogma podcast, Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon, executive director of Churches for Middle East Peace, talks with Word&Way President Brian Kaylor about the work of CMEP and her book Beyond Hashtag Activism. She also discusses the conflict in Gaza, the end of Benjamin Netanyahu’s tenure as prime minister, and the impact of COVID-19 in the region.
