Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) Announces Strategic Reorganization of Directors

Seeking to respond to changing landscapes in the events and media space, Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) is pleased to announce Nicole Morgan and Katie McRoberts' transition to new positions within the organization. As the new Director of Programs and Events, Nicole Morgan will be responsible for CMEP's programmatic operations. Katie McRoberts will transition to Director of Communications and Operations. The reorganization is effective immediately.

Nicole has been with CMEP since 2016 and was previously the Director of Operations. She earned her Masters in Theological Studies with an emphasis in Public Policy from Palmer Seminary of Eastern University (an American Baptist Seminary) in Saint Davids, PA, where she also served as a Sider Scholar with Evangelicals for Social Action (now Christians for Social Action.) Both American Baptists USA and Christians for Social Action are CMEP Board Members. Before joining CMEP, Nicole worked with an educational non-profit near Chicago and as a high school teacher near Atlanta.

Nicole looks forward to her role transition, noting: "Educating people about the Middle East and the advocacy role of U.S. citizens is a crucial part of working together for peace and justice. I'm eager to get to work helping to make our programs and events even stronger tools we can use to educate, elevate, and advocate for a just peace in the Middle East." 

Katie joined CMEP in 2017 and was previously the Director of Communications. She has a B.A. in International Affairs in the Middle East from James Madison University and an M.A. in Comparative Religion – Islam from the University of Washington. Previously, she worked at Bellevue Presbyterian Church as their Editor-in-Chief on the Communications Team. In early 2017, she took a trip to the Middle East with CMEP led by the Executive Director Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon, which planted the seed for joining the organization later that year. 

Katie McRoberts

"I am excited to continue CMEP's important work for peace and justice in the Middle East. Each day I show up at work, I contribute to helping individuals and communities bring about change in a space that can often feel overwhelmed," Katie said.

Rev. Dr. Cannon said: "CMEP has such a great staff team. I'm excited to see the ways Katie and Nicole will be able to continue to use their gifts and expand their influence and management as they delve into these new roles and responsibilities."

Formed in 1984, Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) is a coalition of 30 national church communions and organizations, including Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, and Evangelical traditions that works to encourage US policies that actively promote a comprehensive resolution to conflicts in the Middle East with a focus on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. CMEP works to mobilize US Christians to embrace a holistic perspective and to be advocates of equality, human rights, security, and justice for Israelis, Palestinians, and all people of the Middle East.
