Our executive director, Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon continued releasing episodes of her #Activism Podcast over the summer. Episodes related to the Middle East and peace building include:
#ReligiousFreedom: Mae speaks with Ambassador Samuel Brownback, Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom about the role of Christians in religious oppression, especially when the religion isn’t Christianity.
#ChurchesAgainstAnnexation: Mae is joined by Palestinian author and pastor, Munther Isaac, to discuss what Christians in the United States can do to support Christians in the Middle-East and help protect Palestinian human rights.
CMEP1835 seeks to engage young people ages 18 through 35 in advocacy and justice in the Middle East. We are hosting a half-day webinar on Saturday, November 14, 2020, 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. EST. We are excited to explore the Intersections of Faith and Advocacy: A Focus on Peacebuilding in Israel-Palestine. Please be on the lookout for more information coming soon!
Read the latest on our Prayers for Peace (P4P) blog. P4P provides a way for Christians of diverse political and theological backgrounds to stand up for peace and unite in supplication to God with a special focus on prayers for the Holy Land.
This spring, CMEP launched our Churches Against Annexation campaign to ensure there was a clear Christian voice opposing annexation. We have continued our advocacy with Congressional offices, bringing the voices of all of our supporters along with us as we press Congress to ensure U.S. policy does not provide diplomatic cover for or fund annexation.
It is critically important we continue to speak out against annexation. U.S. policy should encourage a resolution to the conflict in Israel/Palestine that will result in equality and human rights for all. We invite you (individuals and churches) to join us in opposing annexation by adding your name to the public statement we are issuing as part of our Churches Against Annexation campaign.
We are currently on our way to our goal of 500 signatures! We invite you to share this with others in your network who might be interested in signing. If you have any questions, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
