| |  | June 2022 Check out the latest opportunities and events from Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP). | | | | CMEP Staff Travels to the Middle East: During the month of May, several CMEP staff members were able to travel to the Middle East. Kyle Cristofalo (Senior Director of Advocacy and Government Relations) and Kevin Vollrath (Manager of Middle East Partnerships) travelled to Egypt for the Middle East Council of Churches General Assembly, where they were also able to speak with the His Holiness Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon (Executive Director) has returned home from spending time in Israel, and Palestine. She and Vollrath also were able to visit Gaza for a few days. While in the region, Cannon spoke at Christ at the Checkpoint in Bethlehem. We’ll be sharing more from their travels in the coming weeks. Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) is seeking applicants for a Middle East Fellow. This unique fellowship experience is focused on advocacy based in the US and the Middle East. The fellowship lasts between 6-12 months and includes a few months (remote) work from the United States and three months on the ground in the Jerusalem/Bethlehem area of Israel/Palestine. Applicants will have the opportunity to live and work in Israel/Palestine, acquire deeper exposure to the realities on the ground, develop relationships with local religious leaders and organizations working towards a just peace to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and make meaningful contributions to CMEP’s advocacy efforts.
