A Churches for Middle East Peace Summit

BACKGROUND
And Still We Rise 2024 (ASWR2024) provides a safe space for Palestinian/ Middle Eastern and American/ international women to build community, invite transformation, grow in ecumenical faith, and take action. The ASWR Summit seeks to support the convening and elevation of Palestinian Christian women leaders, with a focus on topics like:
- Women in society, peacebuilding, and the church
- Men blessing women and celebrating their gifts
- Ecumenical unity among Palestinian Christians
- Building peace in our homes and communities through trauma healing and the sharing of stories
- Principles of gender justice in the local context
- Responding to geopolitical challenges and taking action against injustice
- How international community members can advocate and support an end to the occupation of the Palestinian people
- Acts of solidarity and advocacy that internationals can take to support the Christian community in Palestine
- Spiritual formation, self-care tools, strategies for addressing trauma, and healing meditations
The event will begin with a one-day pre-summit for local and international attendees; women and men are welcome on day one. It will feature female and male leaders who are champions of women’s human rights.
Days two and three are open to women only, both local and international attendees from a multi-faith context. The Summit is facilitated by the And Still We Rise Leadership Team, which is composed of Palestinian, primarily Christian women. These days will solely feature female leaders who engage and seek transformative change in their own contexts, in Palestine, and around the world. All are welcome, but please note the summit will have Christian themes.
SCHEDULE
Day 1, November 15, 2024 - Men and Women
This is a spiritual opening day for men and women. Hear from local leaders and learn about the main goals and objectives of the ASWR Initiative.
Day 2, November 16, 2024 - Women
Hear from women leaders addressing the themes Family, and Trauma and Healing.
Day 3, November 17, 2024 - Women
We will focus our discussion on Human Rights and Collective Liberation in the Palestinian perspective.
Days 2 & 3, November 16-17, 2024 - For Men
Men can participate in an educational, recreational, or service program. Some activities might include talking to local communities and organizations. Men who register independently will be given the opportunity to join men from other travel groups for days 2 and 3 where you can learn from local peacemakers and help local communities that suffer under the occupation.
REGISTRATION
Because of the nature and location of our summit - we have different pricing tiers and tickets available for men and women as well as for locals and internationals. Please read the details below to determine your registration type. Reach out to info@cmep.org with any questions!
Palestinian Women
If you would like to attend the conference, please purchase a ticket using the "Register" button below. This ticket includes three nights of lodging. You will need to pay the VAT (Up to $35 USD) to the hotel directly at check in using cash.
Palestinian Men
If you would like to attend the first day of the summit, you may purchase a ticket for $20.00 USD via the registration button below. This ticket DOES NOT include any hotel accommodations.
U.S. & International Women and Men
If you are traveling with a group trip to the Holy Land and have confirmed that ASWR Registration is a part of your group tour, you do NOT need to register. Your registration is included in your tour package.
We invite and strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land on a group tour that includes ASWR as part of your itinerary. If you are travelling on a CMEP ASWR tour, your registration and lodging and meals is included.
If you would like to organize a group tour through CMEP, join an existing tour, or add ASWR to your itinerary with an outside tour agency, please contact us at info@cmep.org and we will work to accommodate your situation.
If you would like to register for the ASWR summit independently of a group tour, please chose the "international men" or "international women" option as appropriate.
Women registrants will participate in the full summit.
Men registrants will participate in day one of the summit and then join a 2 day excursion during the women's-only days of the summit.
