To begin:
1. Visit cmep.org/let-children-live to get the name and age of a Palestinian child living in Gaza or the West Bank.
2. Print this packet and cut apart the 25 strips—one for each day of Advent (Dec. 1–25).
3. Color or decorate the strips together as a family.
4. Form a paper chain by looping each strip and taping or gluing it to the next.
5. Hang the chain in your home as a visible sign of your prayers for peace.
6. Each day, tear off one strip, follow the reflection, and pray for your child by name.
Creative ways to pray for your child:
This year, our devotional journey carries a particular urgency. Through the Let Children Live campaign, Churches for Middle East Peace invites congregations and individuals to lift up the names of Palestinian children living under occupation, conflict, and deprivation, and to commit prayerfully and faithfully that they may live and flourish.
As we light candles and prepare for Christmas, we remember that the hope and peace of Christ are not distant ideas. They are embodied in children’s lives, in their laughter and in their tears, in their longing and in their resilience. The Christ child who entered the world in vulnerability still enters the lives of the oppressed and the displaced. This same Christ invites us to stand with children whose lives are endangered, to make room for them to live.
Read along with us every Advent as we pray to Let Children Live.
