In Lebanon, Israeli strikes point to a precarious ceasefire

Reuters

"As Israel resumes heavy strikes in the Gaza Strip, escalating Israeli attacks in south Lebanon have killed five Hezbollah members in the last few days, according to security sources in Lebanon, underlining the fragility of a U.S.-backed ceasefire.
The war between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon marked the deadliest spillover of the Gaza war, rumbling across the frontier for months before escalating into a devastating Israeli offensive that wiped out the group's command and many of its fighters, along with much of its arsenal."

"On March 8, Ibrahim was abducted in front of his two boys and wife by fighters who had stormed into the coastal city of Jableh, Latakia. The fighters, nominally aligned with Syria’s new government, had descended on the region and were looking for Alawites –  a religious minority to which Syria’s former leader Bashar al-Assad belongs – and Ibrahim was Alawite."

Trump says Iran will suffer 'dire' consequences for any more Houthi attacks

ABC News

"President Donald Trump on Monday said that further attacks or retaliation by the Houthis would be considered an attack by Iran and it would face “dire” consequences. Trump’s threat comes after the United States launched a new series of airstrikes against the Yemeni group beginning Saturday. The Houthis on Sunday claimed to have thwarted “a hostile attack the enemy was preparing to launch against our country.” A U.S. official told ABC News that the Houthis fired 11 drones and one ballistic missile at the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier group in the Red Sea on Saturday, none of which came close to hitting any U.S. vessels."

At the king of Jordan's interfaith iftar, Orthodox and Catholic leaders attack Christian Zionism

Religious News Service

"King Abdullah II’s annual iftar has become a highly anticipated Ramadan event where members of the royal family, religious leaders and local notables, as well as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and key members of his government, are all invited to break the daily fast with a dinner at the royal palace. With the Muslim fasting season coinciding with Christian Lent this year, the usual contingent of Christian leaders was especially august on March 11, with Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and William Hanna Shomali, an auxiliary bishop of the Latin patriarchate, joining Muhammad Hussein, the grand mufti of Jerusalem, at the meal, which included customary Lenten dishes for the Christians."
